According to an article at Variety.com, the movie adaptation of the videogame "Bioshock" might be back on track after it was delayed earlier in the year due to budgetary concerns. Originally, "Pirates of the Caribbean" helmer Gore Verbinski was attached to the project until Universal Pictures put the project on hold. Now, it appears that Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) has signed up to call the shots (Verbinski will remain on board as a producer).
I haven't had a chance to play the "Bioshock" game all the way through, but what I did get to see and play was very impressive. And while it wasn't perfect, "28 Weeks Later" was a pretty solid follow up to one of my favorite horror films of this decade, Danny Boyle's "28 Days Later". Here's hoping that Fresnadillo will be able to bring the same combination of atmosphere and scares to "Bioshock" that he did "28 Weeks Later".
